In an effort to give you all the dental services you need under one roof, 38th Modern Dental has oral surgeons on staff to serve you better. Oral surgeons can provide oral pathology, corrective jaw surgery, tooth extraction, and TMJ treatment, but most often an oral surgeon will be called upon to remove wisdom teeth.
The Extraction Process
Wisdom teeth are the extra molars at the back of your mouth. There are many problems that can occur with wisdom teeth, as they often do not grow in properly. In such a case, they need to be extracted by a surgeon. Wisdom tooth extraction is a common procedure with a quick recovery time.
Wisdom teeth sometimes do not erupt or partially erupt and can become impacted. Tumors or cysts can form near the tooth, and it can cause swelling, pain, and headaches. Not only that, but if wisdom teeth do not grow in correctly, they can knock the rest of your teeth out of alignment.
Additional Oral Surgeries
Besides wisdom tooth removal, we provide a number of other oral surgeries. These include:
Bone Grafting. This procedure is performed to transplant bone to repair and rebuild damaged teeth. Most often this is needed to aid in placing dental implants.
Pocket Reduction. Pocket reduction surgery is necessary in severe cases of gum (periodontal) disease. In this procedure, the surgeon will gain access to the root of the tooth in order to remove bacteria and tartar.
Tooth Extraction. For any number of reasons, you may need to undergo tooth extraction, a low-risk, painless procedure. Learn more about tooth extraction.
